Citrus IPA Lip Balm

Like a refreshing ale, you'll keep coming back to this lip balm!

This might just be your new favorite lip balm. Crafted to resemble a citrus IPA, this lip balm contains Hops and Orange oil. Possibly our most popular recipe for men.

Directions

STEP 1

Gather all ingredients and measure them in separate little bowls.

STEP 2

Fill a pot about 1/4 way with water and place a Pyrex measuring cup in the pan.

STEP 3

Add the beeswax and jojoba to the Pyrex cup, put the burner on medium - enough for a simmer or low boil.

STEP 4

Stir and take off the heat as soon as it is melted. We love glass stir rods or metal spoons.

STEP 5

Drop the essential oils into the blend and mix well.

STEP 6

Pour the mixture into the lip balm tubes. If the Pyrex lip is not thin enough for pouring into the tubes, you can also use a plastic pipette to siphon up the hot lip balm and squirt it into each tube. It takes longer this way but is more precise.

STEP 7

If the lip balm starts to harden while pouring into the tubes, place the Pyrex back into the hot water and it will stay liquid. Fill the tubes to the very top so once hardened, the top is smooth. This recipe makes about 12 lip balms (5 ml size).

STEP 8

As soon as the liquid has begun to harden (this happens within a few minutes), gently pull the lip tubes out from the bottom of the tray, cover, and allow to harden a few hours before use.

STEP 9

To clean your tray, we find it easiest to wipe it off with a paper towel first to get as much of the extra lip balm off as possible. Then soak in hot water, scrub. May also run through the dishwasher.

Safety and dilution

This blend was created at a 5% dilution. For senstive lips, feel free to decrease the essential oil drops by half.

Kid safety: This blend is safe for kids 5 and over.

Shelf Life

The ingredient with the shortest shelf life remaining becomes the shelf life of the entire blend.
