Agarwood Essential Oil

Agarwood Essential Oil

Aquilaria crassna

Agarwood is steam distilled from the resinous wood of Aquilaria crassna. Ours comes from Thailand, from organically grown trees, and the batches on this page were distilled between 2016 and 2017. The chemistry here is unusual, and worth a slow look. Sesquiterpenols make up the largest share, averaging close to 31% across our recent batches, with eudesma-7-en-4-ol at 4-5%, valerianol ranging from about 2% to nearly 5%, and small amounts of agarospirol and the eudesmols. Ketones follow at around 19%, led by dehydrofukinone (roughly 6% in our recent batches). No single component dominates. It is a wide, layered profile built from many minor molecules, which is part of why agarwood smells the way it does. Only two batches have been analyzed so far, so think of these as observed figures rather than a settled range. Every batch is independently GC-MS tested, and each full report lives right here on this page.
