Davana Essential Oil
Artemisia pallens
Davana is steam distilled from the flowers of Artemisia pallens, a small plant in the Asteraceae family. Ours comes from India, organically grown. The aroma is sweet, warm, fruity, and a little woodsy, the kind of scent people remember.
The chemistry is unusual. Davanone, a ketone, leads by a wide margin, typically 42-52% in our batches. Bicyclogermacrene follows around 5-12%, with davana ether near 3-7% and ethyl (E)-cinnamate close to 4-6%. That combination is part of why davana is valued for supporting emotional balance, and why it shows up so often in stress-soothing perfume blends. A little goes a long way.
Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and the full report for each one lives right here on this page. You can see exactly what is in the bottle you are using.
