Myrrh Essential Oil
Commiphora myrrha
Myrrh comes from the resin of a small, tough tree that seeps a rich sap when its bark is injured. The hardened resin is what gets distilled. Our Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha) is steam distilled from certified organic resin harvested in Somalia and Somaliland.
It's a sesquiterpene-rich oil, around 57% sesquiterpenes on average across our batches. Furanoeudesma-1,3-diene leads the way, typically 26-54% in our batches, with curzerene close behind (this one swings widely, from under 1% up to 43%) and lindestrene usually around 3-8%. That heavy, resinous chemistry is why Myrrh is loved for skin-regenerative and soothing care, and why it anchors a blend so well as a warm, grounding base note.
Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and the full report for each one lives right here on this page.
