Patchouli Essential Oil
Pogostemon cablin
Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin) is steam distilled from the leaves, and ours comes from organically grown plants in India and Indonesia. The aroma is sweet, woodsy, earthy, and a little spicy, and it sits deep in a blend as a base note.
Chemically, this is a sesquiterpene-heavy oil, with sesquiterpenes averaging around half the oil and sesquiterpenols close to a third. Patchoulol leads the way, typically 28-34% in our batches, with \u03b1-bulnesene around 13-20% and \u03b1-guaiene around 10-15%. That combination is why patchouli is loved for supporting emotional balance and for soothing irritated patches of skin. It's also valued for its antibacterial and antifungal properties, and it shows up in a lot of our bug-repelling blends.
Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and each batch's full report lives right here on this page.
