Sandalwood Essential Oil
Santalum album
Sandalwood is steam distilled from the wood of Santalum album. Our batches have come from Australia and Indonesia, both organically grown and wildcrafted material.
The chemistry is unusually simple to read. Sesquiterpenols make up around 77% of the oil, and the santalols lead the way. (Z)-alpha-santalol averages about 32% across our batches, with (Z)-beta-santalol typically 12-19%. Those santalols are the components sandalwood is loved for. They are calming and grounding, and they have long been part of quiet, meditative practice. Sandalwood is also a gentle choice in skin care, and it can support restful sleep. Its aroma is sweet, woodsy, and balsamic, a true base note.
Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and the full report for each one lives right here on this page.
