Vanilla Oleoresin

Vanilla Oleoresin

Vanilla planifolia

Vanilla oleoresin smells rich, warm, sensual, and sweet—just like luscious, intoxicating vanilla! The aroma has an intensely soothing effect. This 30-fold oleoresin is a thick, molasses-like substance that’s water soluble but doesn’t dissolve in oil. It’s made when organic bourbon vanilla bean pods are put into a pressurized environment with an organic solvent (ethanol). Once the rich, aromatic plant material (the oleoresin) is extracted, the solvent is removed with a vacuum process. A small amount of vanilla oleoresin goes a long way to infuse oils and butters with an exotic scent.
