Vetiver Essential Oil
Chrysopogon zizanioides
Vetiver is steam distilled from the rootlets of a grassy plant, and ours comes from India and Indonesia, both organically grown and wildcrafted. Vetiveria zizanoides has a deep, rooty, earthy aroma that sits right at the base of a blend.
The chemistry is unusual: sesquiterpenols make up close to 38% of the oil on average, led by khusimol (typically 4-15% in our batches). You'll also see sesquiterpenes like β-vetivenene around 5-9%, and a little α-vetivone, generally 1-4%. This is heavy, grounding chemistry. Vetiver has earned the nickname "Oil of Tranquility" for good reason. It's calming and comfortably cooling, a favorite for stress-soothing blends and for supporting emotional balance and the skin's own repair processes.
Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and each batch's full report lives on this page for you to read.
