Carrot Seed Essential Oil

Carrot Seed Essential Oil

Daucus carota subsp. sativus

Carrot Seed essential oil is steam distilled from the seeds of Daucus carota ssp. sativus, a member of the Apiaceae family. Ours comes from organically grown plants in India. The aroma is earthy and herbaceous, with that unmistakable carrot quality, and it sits as a middle note in a blend.

What makes this oil so distinctive is how much of it is one molecule. Carotol, a sesquiterpenol, typically runs 59-76% in our batches. Daucol and daucene fill in behind it, along with a little cedrene oxide when it shows up. Sesquiterpenols as a family average around 75% here, which is unusual and worth noticing. Carrot Seed is valued in aromatherapy for its skin regenerative and antifungal properties, and it is a favorite in gentle skincare blending.

Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and each batch report lives right on this page for you to read.
