Palo Santo (Holy Wood) Essential Oil
Bursera graveolens
Palo Santo, or Holy Wood, is steam distilled from the wood of Bursera graveolens. Ours comes from Ecuador, where the tree is considered sacred, and our batches are either certified organic or wildcrafted. The aroma is resinous and warm, earthy and a little smoky.
The chemistry surprises people. Palo Santo is rich in d-limonene, typically 52-73% in our batches, the same monoterpene that makes citrus oils so bright, though this oil doesn't smell like citrus at all. There's menthofuran (about 9-17%) and a bit of alpha-terpineol (roughly 5-10%). It's an oil valued for supporting emotional balance, and it blends beautifully into calming, stress-easing roll-ons.
Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and you can read the full report for each batch right here on this page.
