Turmeric Essential Oil
Curcuma longa
Turmeric essential oil is steam distilled from the roots and rhizomes of Curcuma longa, and ours comes from organically grown plants in India. The aroma is warm and radiant, earthy and spicy, and it settles in as a base note.
The chemistry is dominated by ketones, which average about 57% of the oil. The biggest one is ar-turmerone, typically 28-34% in our batches, with α-turmerone alongside it in a wider range of roughly 6-22%. Sesquiterpenes like α-zingiberene fill out the rest. This is the profile Turmeric is loved for in aromatherapy: anti-inflammatory and analgesic in character, well suited to soothing everyday aches and discomfort, with an uplifting, mood-supporting side too.
Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and you can read the full report for each one right here on this page.
