Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil
Cinnamomum verum
Cinnamon Bark (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) is steam distilled from the bark of the cinnamon tree. Ours has come from Madagascar and Sri Lanka, both certified organic and wildcrafted.
This oil is rich in aldehydes, and one aldehyde leads the way: (E)-cinnamaldehyde, typically 58-69% in our batches. Cinnamaldehyde is a powerhouse antimicrobial, which makes Cinnamon Bark a favorite for purifying your home. There's a little eugenol too, usually around 2-5%, the same phenol that gives Clove its familiar aroma. Cinnamyl acetate rounds things out, ranging widely from about 2% to 13%. Aldehydes and phenols are potent components, so this is an oil to use in small amounts and with care.
And then there's the aroma. Robust, zesty, sweet and spicy. Emotionally warming, in the way cinnamon has always been.
Every batch is independently GC-MS tested, and each batch's full report lives right here on this page.
