Black Pepper Essential Oil
Piper nigrum
Black Pepper essential oil (Piper nigrum) is steam distilled from the dried fruit. Ours comes from India and Madagascar, from certified organic, organically grown, and wildcrafted plants. The aroma is warm and radiant, woodsy, fresh, and dry with that familiar spice.
The chemistry leans on monoterpenes, around 58% of the oil on average, with sesquiterpenes close behind near 36%. β-Caryophyllene is usually the single largest component, averaging about 18% and reaching 28% in our batches. Then comes d-limonene (typically 12-21%) and α-pinene (typically 6-14%). This is the profile Black Pepper is loved for in aromatherapy: analgesic, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, and antimicrobial, and especially well suited to soothing aches and everyday discomfort after exertion.
Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and each batch's full report lives right here on this page.
