Tulsi (Holy Basil) Essential Oil
Ocimum sanctum ct eugenol
Tulsi, also called Holy Basil, comes to us from India, where it is organically grown and steam distilled. The plant is a member of the mint family, and the oil carries a sweet, warm, spicy aroma with fresh and earthy notes underneath. Botanically it is Ocimum sanctum ct eugenol, and that chemotype name tells you exactly what to expect.
Eugenol leads the profile, typically 23-55% in our batches, with a mean near 44%. Eugenol is the phenol loved for its analgesic and antispasmodic character, which is why Tulsi is such a good choice for soothing aches and general discomfort. Alongside it sit the sesquiterpenes, mostly β-caryophyllene (up to about 31%) and β-elemene, giving the oil its warm, grounded body. Tulsi is also valued as a carminative and antimicrobial oil.
Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and the full report for each one lives right here on this page.
