Balsam Fir Essential Oil
Abies balsamea
Balsam Fir is steam distilled from the needles of Abies balsamea. Ours comes from certified organic trees in Canada, and it smells the way you'd hope: resinous, woodsy, warm, and fresh.
The chemistry is heavily monoterpene, averaging around 84% across our batches. β-Pinene leads, typically 14-38%, with α-pinene close behind at 13-17% and δ-3-carene often in the 15-20% range. α-Pinene is loved for its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory character, and β-pinene brings anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic qualities of its own. Together they give Balsam Fir its immune-supportive reputation, and its knack for supporting mental clarity and focus. A little bornyl acetate (roughly 5-14%) softens the edges.
Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and each batch's full report lives right here on this page for you to read.
