Ponderosa Pine Essential Oil

Ponderosa Pine Essential Oil

Pinus ponderosa

Ponderosa Pine (Pinus ponderosa) is steam distilled from the needles, and ours is wildcrafted in the USA. The aroma is warm and woodsy, piney with a bright citrus edge, sitting comfortably between a middle and a top note in a blend.

The chemistry is strongly monoterpene, close to 86% on average. α-Pinene leads, typically 25-38% in our batches, with β-pinene at 11-23% and δ-3-carene around 11-17%. These are the components pine oils are loved for: α-pinene is known for its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory character, and δ-3-carene adds clearing, mucolytic support for easy breathing. There's a little bornyl acetate too (roughly 2-5%), a calming, soothing ester, plus limonene at 5-12%.

Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and the full report for each one lives right here on this page.
