Basil Sweet Essential Oil
Ocimum basilicum ct. linalool
Sweet Basil essential oil is steam distilled from the flowers of Ocimum basilicum ct linalool, a member of the Lamiaceae family. Ours comes from Egypt and Nepal, certified organic or organically grown, with a sweet, herbaceous, anise-like aroma that sits right at the top of a blend.
This is a linalool chemotype, and the numbers show it. Linalool typically runs 32-59% in our batches, making monoterpenols the dominant family by a wide margin. Linalool is a calming molecule with a long research history behind it. You'll also see 1,8-cineole, usually 4-16%, an oxide loved for supporting clear breathing and easy comfort. Basil is valued in aromatherapy for its antispasmodic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory character, and it's a nice choice when you want support for mental clarity and focus.
Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and the full report for each one lives right here on this page.
