Xanthoxylum Essential Oil
Zanthoxylum armatum
Xanthoxylum comes from the dried fruit of Zanthoxylum armatum, a member of the citrus family. Ours is wildcrafted in Nepal and steam distilled. The aroma is fresh and fruity with a floral edge, which surprises people the first time they smell it.
The chemistry is mostly monoterpenols and monoterpenes. Linalool leads, typically 40-51% in our batches, and linalool is the molecule loved for its calming, soothing character. Next is d-limonene, typically 19-27%, a monoterpene known for antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. Beta-phellandrene and a little methyl cinnamate round out the profile and give the oil its bright, slightly sweet lift. The oil is also valued in aromatherapy as antispasmodic and skin regenerative.
Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and the full report for each one lives right here on this page.
