Cajeput Essential Oil
Melaleuca leucadendron var. Cajuputi
Cajeput is steam distilled from the leaves of Melaleuca leucadendron var. Cajuputi, a tree in the Myrtaceae family. Ours has come from Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, certified organic or organically grown. The aroma is warm and fresh, a little herbaceous and fruity, with a camphoraceous edge. It sits as a middle note in a blend.
The chemistry explains a lot of that. Cajeput is an oxide-rich oil, with 1,8-cineole typically 48-71% in our batches. That's the component loved for supporting respiratory comfort and clear, easy breathing, along with its antispasmodic and antimicrobial character. You'll also see d-limonene (typically 5-11%) and alpha-terpineol, which can range widely, up to about 12%.
Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and the full report for each one lives right here on this page, so you can see exactly what's in the bottle.
