Niaouli ct 1,8 Cineole Essential Oil

Niaouli ct 1,8 Cineole Essential Oil

Melaleuca quinquenervia ct 1,8 cineole

Niaouli is steam distilled from the grey-green leaves of Melaleuca quinquenervia ct 1,8 cineole. Ours is wildcrafted in Madagascar. The aroma is fresh, camphoraceous, and a little sweet, with a reassuring, medicinal quality. It's pronounced "nye-OO-lee," and there are several types of niaouli, so the chemotype matters.

This one is defined by its oxide content. 1,8-cineole runs typically 52-62% in our batches, and that's the component this oil is loved for: clearing, and supportive of comfortable breathing and a clear head. Alpha-pinene follows at roughly 7-11%, a monoterpene known for its antimicrobial character, with alpha-terpineol around 5-8% and a bit of limonene filling in behind it.

Every batch is independently GC-MS tested before it goes out, and the full report for each batch lives right here on this page, so you can see the numbers for yourself.

Chemistry highlights

GC-MS analysis of this batch identified 37 components. It leads with 1,8-cineole at 48.71 percent, followed by alpha-pinene at 9.55 percent and limonene at 8.22 percent, with alpha-terpineol at 7.67 percent rounding out the profile. Oxides make up just over 49 percent of the oil and are associated with a fresh, opening quality in the breath, while the monoterpene fraction near 25 percent lends brightness and lift. A monoterpenol presence above 9 percent contributes gentleness in blends.
