Cardamom Essential Oil
Elettaria cardamomum
Cardamom is steam distilled from the seeds of Elettaria cardamomum, a member of the ginger family. Ours comes from certified organic and organically grown crops in Guatemala, India, and Sri Lanka. The aroma is sweet, warm, and spicy, with a fresh eucalyptus-like edge.
Two components define it. Terpinyl acetate, an ester, is the largest piece, typically 34-55% across our batches. Next comes 1,8-cineole, an oxide, typically 26-35%. That cineole is the reason Cardamom smells so bright and is loved for supporting clear breathing and respiratory comfort. Smaller amounts of linalool, linalyl acetate, and sabinene round it out. Aromatherapists reach for Cardamom to support mental clarity and focus, and to support healthy digestion, and its aroma is both uplifting and calming.
Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and the full report for each one lives right here on this page.
