Cypress Essential Oil

Cypress essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves of Cupressus sempervirens. Ours comes from certified organic material grown in Spain. The aroma is resinous and woodsy, a little smokey and balsamic, and it settles into blends as a middle-to-base note that adds warmth.

This is a monoterpene-rich oil, close to 88% monoterpenes on average. α-Pinene leads, typically 36-56% in our batches, and it's the component loved for its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory character. δ-3-Carene follows at typically 19-26%, bringing its own anti-inflammatory and clearing (mucolytic) quality. Small amounts of limonene, terpinolene, and cedrol round things out. In aromatherapy, Cypress is valued for its antispasmodic, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties.
