Corn Mint (Wild Mint) Essential Oil

Corn Mint, also called Wild Mint, comes to us steam distilled from the leaves of organically grown Mentha arvensis in India. The aroma is fresh and minty, a middle-top note that reads as cool the moment you open the bottle.

That coolness is menthol, and there is a lot of it. Menthol typically runs 65-75% in our batches, with menthone around 5-8% and isomenthone about 3-8%. This is a monoterpenol-dominant oil with a supporting cast of ketones. Corn Mint is valued in aromatherapy for its analgesic, antispasmodic, carminative, and antibacterial properties, and mints like this one help clear germs from the skin. Because the menthol content is so high, I use it in small amounts and keep it out of the bath or shower.
