Spearmint Essential Oil

Spearmint (Mentha spicata) is steam distilled from the leaves, and the oil on this page comes from certified organic and organically grown plants in India and South Africa. The aroma is fresh, herbaceous, and minty, sitting somewhere between a top and a middle note.

The chemistry is led by carvone, a ketone, typically 53-70% in our batches. Those ketones are part of why Spearmint is loved for supporting the respiratory system, and the oil has a long reputation for its germ-fighting and antifungal character. Next comes d-limonene, a monoterpene, typically 15-21%. It brings brightness to the aroma along with antibacterial support. Together they give Spearmint that refreshing quality people reach for when they want a sense of clarity.
