Kanuka Essential Oil
Kunzea ericoides
Kanuka is steam distilled from the leaves of Kunzea ericoides, a shrub in the Myrtaceae family. Ours is wildcrafted in New Zealand. The aroma is sweet, fresh, and herbaceous, with the bright lift you would expect from a leaf oil this high in monoterpenes.
The chemistry is dominated by α-pinene, typically 54-64% in our batches. That one component is a big part of why Kanuka is loved for soothing tired, hard-working bodies, and it is known for antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory character too. You will also see 1,8-cineole (about 4-6%), the oxide people reach for when they want clear, easy breathing, and viridiflorol, a sesquiterpenol sitting around 2-5%.
Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and the full report for each one lives right here on this page.
