Douglas Fir Essential Oil
Pseudotsuga menziesii
Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) is steam distilled from the needles, and ours comes from the USA, from both certified organic and wildcrafted trees. The aroma is sweet, woodsy, fresh, and piney, a middle-to-top note that bridges fresh and floral in a blend.
It's a monoterpene-rich oil, close to 75% monoterpenes across our batches. Camphene runs typically 19-26%, with \u03b1-pinene around 14-20%. Those are two of the molecules I reach for when I want something clearing for the head. Then there's bornyl acetate, an ester, typically 12-26%. Esters like this one bring a calming, settled quality, and Douglas Fir is lovely in a blend meant to relax the body and lift the mood.
Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and you can read each batch's full report right here on this page.
