Hemlock Essential Oil
Tsuga canadensis
Hemlock is steam distilled from the needles of Tsuga canadensis, a conifer tree (not the toxic parsley-family plant that shares the common name). Ours comes from Canada, certified organic or organically grown. The aroma is fresh, piney, with a little fruitiness underneath.
The chemistry leans on esters and monoterpenes. Bornyl acetate is the lead component, typically 16-36% in our batches, and it's the one loved for its calming, sedative quality. α-Pinene runs about 14-22%, valued for its antimicrobial activity, and camphene sits around 10-16%, bringing antioxidant support. Monoterpenes together average roughly 61%, which is where that clearing, foresty character comes from.
Every batch of this oil is independently GC-MS tested, and each batch's full report lives right here on this page. You can see exactly what's in the bottle.
