Honey Myrtle Essential Oil
Melaleuca teretifolia
Honey Myrtle (Melaleuca teretifolia) is steam distilled from the flowers of a shrub that grows in Australia, and ours comes from organically grown plants. The aroma is fresh, herbaceous, and distinctly lemony.
That lemony quality comes from citral, which is really two aldehydes working together. Geranial runs about 31-40% in our batches and neral about 27-30%, with β-myrcene adding another 9-14%. Aldehydes make up roughly two thirds of the oil overall. Honey Myrtle is valued in aromatherapy for its antimicrobial, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. Citral-rich oils can be sensitizing to skin, so blend this one in a low dilution.
Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and the full report for each one lives right here on this page. You can see exactly what is in the bottle you have.
