Larch Tamarack Essential Oil
Larix laricina
Larch Tamarack is steam distilled from the needles of Larix laricina, a tree in the Pinaceae family. Ours comes from certified organic sources in Canada, and it smells like the forest: fresh, woodsy, a little balsamic and earthy.
The chemistry is monoterpene-rich, close to 78% on average. α-Pinene leads the way, typically 23-33% in our batches, with δ-3-carene at about 16-23% and β-pinene at 9-13%. α-Pinene is the component known for its antimicrobial strength, and this combination is loved for supporting the breath and gentle uplift. There's also bornyl acetate, usually 5-11%, an ester with a calming quality. Together they give Larch its grounding, clarifying character, a steady companion during times of change.
Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and the full report for each one lives right here on this page.
