Myrtle (Red) Essential Oil

Myrtle (Red) Essential Oil

Myrtus communis

Red Myrtle is steam distilled from the leaves of Myrtus communis. The batches on this page come from Australia and Morocco, certified organic or organically grown.

The chemistry leads with 1,8-cineole, typically 20-45% in our batches. That oxide gives Red Myrtle its fresh, camphoraceous quality, and it is the component most often turned to for clear breathing and respiratory comfort. Close behind is α-pinene, typically 18-53%, a monoterpene known for antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory character. Then there is a soft layer of esters, mostly myrtenyl acetate at roughly 8-18%. Taken together, this is an oil valued in aromatherapy as an expectorant and antispasmodic.

Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and the full report for each one lives right here on this page, so you can see exactly what is in the bottle you have.
