Rock Rose Essential Oil

Rock Rose Essential Oil

Cistus ladanifer

Rock Rose (Cistus ladanifer) is steam distilled from the aerial parts of a shrub in the Cistaceae family. Ours comes from certified organic plants grown in Spain. The aroma is sweet, warm, and earthy, with fresh and herbaceous edges that settle into a base note.

The chemistry is led by monoterpenes, which average close to 58% overall. α-Pinene is the standout, typically 25-51% in our batches, and it's the component Rock Rose is best loved for: antimicrobial, and comforting when your body feels achy after exertion. Camphene runs about 4-7%, with bornyl acetate (an ester) around 2-4%. Rock Rose is also valued as an astringent and for its immunostimulant character.

Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and the full report for each one lives right here on this page, so you can see the chemistry you're actually working with.
