Tea Tree Essential Oil
Melaleuca alternifolia
Tea Tree is steam distilled from the leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia, and ours comes from organically grown plants in Australia. The aroma is fresh, herbaceous, and a little spicy.
What makes this oil so useful is terpinen-4-ol, a monoterpenol that runs 27-41% in our batches. It's the molecule behind Tea Tree's reputation for reducing the presence of germs, and it's the one to look for on a report. Alongside it you'll find γ-terpinene (typically 17-20%) and a small amount of 1,8-cineole (usually 1-5%). Together they give Tea Tree its clearing, easy-to-breathe quality, and its gentle way of calming histamine reactions and redness in the skin.
Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and the full report for each one lives right here on this page.
