Balsam Poplar Essential Oil
Populus balsamifera
Balsam Poplar comes from the sticky, fragrant buds of *Populus balsamifera*, steam distilled. Ours is certified organic and grown in Canada. The aroma is resinous and sweet, woodsy with a balsamic base note that settles low in a blend.
What makes this oil unusual is how much of it is sesquiterpenols, right around 41% on average across our batches. The star is α-bisabolol, typically 23-31% in our batches, with nerolidol usually near 5-8%. Sesquiterpenes make up most of the rest, with δ-cadinene at roughly 3-7%. That combination is why Balsam Poplar is loved as a calming, soothing oil, one people reach for when they want something comforting after exertion.
Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and each batch's full report lives right here on this page.
