Cedarwood Essential Oil
Juniperus virginiana
Our cedarwood is steam distilled from the wood of wild trees in the USA, all of it wildcrafted. Also called red cedar, Juniperus virginiana gives a soft, woody oil that's mostly sesquiterpenes and sesquiterpenols.
The chemistry is dominated by alpha-cedrene, typically 24-39% in our batches, with thujopsene around 11-20%. Then there's cedrol, a sesquiterpenol that usually lands between 9% and 25%. Cedrol is the one I get excited about. Studies show it can calm the nerves and help you feel relaxed, even when you can't really smell it. That's part of why cedarwood casts such a quiet shelter over a room where it's diffused, inspiring a sense of security and calm. This conifer is also good at moving energy in the body, bringing support to tender or puffy areas as they recover strength.
Every batch is independently GC-MS tested, and the full report for each one lives right here on this page.
