Chamomile German Essential Oil (Nepal)

Matricaria recutita

German Chamomile (Matricaria recutita) is steam distilled from the small white and yellow flowers. Ours comes from Nepal, from organically grown and wildcrafted plants.

This oil leans heavily on sesquiterpenes, which average about 68% across our batches. The largest single component is (E)-β-farnesene, typically 30-57% in our batches, with (E,E)-α-farnesene usually around 5-13%. Bisabolol oxides show up as the next group, generally in the 8-14% range for α-bisabolol oxide A when it's present. That combination is what people reach for when they want something quietly calming and soothing on the skin, the comforting side of chamomile that also settles the heart and mind.
