Bentonite Clay is a mined clay, not a plant extract, and it arrives as a simple dry powder ready to be mixed with water, hydrosols, or oils. Our batches have come from the USA.

It's odorless, so it won't compete with the essential oils or hydrosols you blend it with. The powder ranges from light tan to light gray, and it's insoluble, meaning it disperses into a paste rather than dissolving. Clays like this one are valued in face masks and scrubs for their gentle detoxifying character, and they bring a mineral-rich quality to a blend. Bentonite has no set shelf life, so store it dry and it will keep. A patch test for sensitivity is a good idea before you use it on skin.
