Cornflower Hydrosol

Cornflower Hydrosol

Centaurea cyanus

Cornflower Hydrosol (Centaurea cyanus) is steam distilled from the flowers. Every batch we've logged, going back to 2017, has come from certified organic growers in the USA.

It's a clear to light yellow, water-like liquid with a light, smooth, floral, herbaceous aroma. Hydrosols are gentler than essential oils, and cornflower is one of the gentlest of all. Most hydrosols can be sprayed right on your skin without concern, and cornflower is soothing enough to spritz around the eyes. It's soluble in water and alcohol, so it blends easily into mists and water-based products. Stored well, it keeps for about a year and a half. Avoid it during the first trimester of pregnancy because of potential phytohormones.

Every batch we bring in is logged on this page with its origin and best-by date, and certificates of analysis are available to download where we have them.
