Elderflower Hydrosol
Sambucus caerulea
Elderflower Hydrosol is steam distilled from the flowers of Sambucus caerulea. Every batch we have brought in so far has come from the USA, from certified organic plants, with distillations logged here from 2017 through 2021. A hydrosol is the water portion of a distillation, so it carries the plant in a very gentle form.
The liquid is clear to light yellow and water like, with a light, refreshing aroma. Elderflower Hydrosol is soluble in water but not in oil, which makes it easy to work into water-based sprays, compresses, and rinses. It is known for astringent, diuretic, and immunostimulant qualities, and it is a gentle choice when you want support for emotional balance and calm. Plan on using it within about a year and a half, and keep it cool.
