French Green Clay
French Green Clay is mined clay, not a plant extract, and it comes to us as a soft green powder with an earthy smell. Our batches have been sourced from France. Because it is a mineral powder, it isn't soluble; you blend it with water, a hydrosol, or an oil right before you use it, and it thickens into a paste.
Green clay draws out impurities, absorbs excess oil, refines the look of pores, and exfoliates lightly. It's the clay I reach for in masks and scrubs when I want that gentle detoxifying feel. It is best avoided if your skin is sensitive, and a patch test is always a good idea. Shelf life for clay is undetermined; kept dry and closed, it keeps well.
Every batch we receive is logged on this page with its origin and best-by date, and certificates of analysis are available to download where we have them.
