Hyssopus officinalis
Hyssop Hydrosol (Hyssopus officinalis) is the water collected during steam distillation, carrying the gentle water-soluble side of the plant. Every batch we have logged, ten of them going back to 2017, has come from certified organic growers in the USA. Steam distillation is the only method behind them.
Hyssop is a member of the mint family, and like many of its relatives it makes a mild hydrosol that is easy to reach for. Our own materials describe it as antispasmodic, expectorant, and antimicrobial, which is a lot of character for something this soft. Hydrosols are gentler than essential oils, so this is a nice way to work with hyssop. Plan on using it within about a year and a half.

Batch HYS-110 comes from certified organic hyssop, Hyssopus officinalis, grown in the USA and steam distilled in July 2026. Hydrosols carry the water-soluble aromatic fraction that comes over during distillation, so the character is gentler than the essential oil: soft, green, and herbaceous with a faint sweet-camphorous lift.
As a hydrosol, this batch is best appreciated for its lightness. It works well as a facial mist, a linen or room refresher, or a calming addition to a compress, offering a quiet sense of clarity and comfort without the intensity of a concentrated oil.
