Lemon Balm Hydrosol

Lemon Balm Hydrosol

Melissa officinalis

Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) is a member of the mint family, and it grows generously once it settles into a garden. This hydrosol is the aromatic water that comes off a steam distillation of the plant. Every batch we have logged so far has come from certified organic material grown in the USA.

In our own aromatherapy work, lemon balm hydrosol is valued as calming and soothing. It has antimicrobial and antifungal character, along with analgesic and antispasmodic qualities, which makes it a gentle option for misting skin that feels irritated or itchy. Like most hydrosols, it keeps best cool and closed, with a shelf life of about a year and a half.

Every batch we receive is logged on this page with its country of origin and best-by date, and certificates of analysis are available to download where we have them.

Batch LEH-110 comes from certified organic Melissa officinalis grown in the United States and steam distilled in early July 2026, when the plants are lush and at their most aromatic. Lemon balm is famously low-yielding, so every liter of this hydrosol represents a generous amount of fresh herb passing through the still.

The aroma is soft and green with a gentle citrus lift, quieter and rounder than the essential oil. Hydrosols carry the water-soluble aromatic fraction of the plant, which is why they feel so mild and are often chosen for facial mists, compresses, and simple moments of calm during the day.

Every batch we bring in is independently tested, and the documentation for this specific lot, including its certificate of analysis, is available to download here. Best used by July 2028.
