Mango Kernel Butter
Mangifera indica
Mango Kernel Butter comes from the seeds inside the fruit of the mango tree, Mangifera indica. The seeds are cold pressed, and the butter we bring in is unrefined and wildcrafted. Our batches have come from Indonesia, India, and South Africa.
It arrives as a light yellow semi solid substance with a mild nutty aroma. It is soluble in oils and alcohol, and insoluble in water, so it belongs in your oil-based blends rather than anything water-based. Mango kernel butter is deeply emollient, softening and soothing the skin. It is lovely in blends meant to soothe dryness, protect skin from wind and sun, and support a supple texture and even tone. A little goes a long way when you combine it with other plant oils and butters. Stored well, it keeps about four years.
Every batch we receive is logged on this page with its country of origin and best-by date, and certificates of analysis are available to download where we have them.
