Palm Kernel Oil
Elaeis guineensis
Palm Kernel Oil (Elaeis guineensis) is cold pressed from the seeds, the kernels inside the palm fruit. Our batches have been wildcrafted, coming from Togo and other parts of West Africa. It arrives as a solid oil, dark yellow to light brown, and it melts easily against warm skin.
The aroma is nutty, and it carries through anything you blend it into. That's part of its charm. Palm Kernel Oil is wonderfully emollient with cooling properties, and it lends a smooth texture to body butters, soaps, and salves. It's used to moisturize skin, to soften and lubricate it, and to soothe muscles and joints. It isn't soluble in water, but it blends well with other oils. Shelf life is about three years. A patch test is always a good idea.
Every batch we receive is logged on this page with its origin and best-by date, with certificates of analysis available where we have them.
