Rose Absolute Essential Oil

Rose Absolute Essential Oil

Rosa x damascena

Rose Absolute comes from the flowers of Rosa x damascena, grown organically in Bulgaria and extracted with solvents rather than steam. The aroma is sweet, spicy, and deeply rosy, a middle to base note.

The chemistry is unusual. Phenylethyl alcohol dominates, typically 49-76% in our batches, and it carries much of that rich floral scent. Behind it sit the monoterpenols: citronellol at roughly 9-23% and geraniol at about 3-13%. Rose is loved for supporting emotional balance and for its calming, uplifting character, and monoterpenol-rich oils like this one are generally skin-nourishing. Because it is solvent extracted, Rose Absolute is less suited to sensitive applications than steam distilled Rose Otto.

Every batch we bring in is independently GC-MS tested, and the full report for each one lives right here on this page.

Batch ROA-120 comes from organically grown Rosa x damascena in Bulgaria, where the blossoms are gathered in the cool early hours of the season and processed by solvent extraction in June 2025. That method captures the deep, honeyed, unmistakably rich rose character that steam distillation leaves behind.

GC-MS analysis of this batch identified 27 components. Phenylethyl alcohol leads at 50.04 percent and carries much of the classic rose sweetness, followed by citronellol at 22.09 percent and geraniol at 10.26 percent. Together the monoterpenols total nearly 40 percent, a family associated with gentle, skin-friendly character and a soft, uplifting presence in a blend.

This exact batch was independently GC-MS tested, and both the full report and the certificate of analysis are available to download. You can see precisely what is in the bottle before it ever reaches your diffuser or blending bench.
