Vegetable Glycerin

Zea mays

Vegetable Glycerin comes from the fruit of corn, Zea mays. It's processed rather than pressed or distilled, and every batch we've logged has come from certified organic material grown in China.

It's a clear, transparent, semi-viscous liquid with a very light aroma, almost undetectable. That makes it easy to work into a blend without changing how the blend smells. Glycerin is soluble in water, so it belongs with your hydrous ingredients: hydrosols, aloe vera gel, water-based serums and mists. It's a humectant, which means it helps hold moisture where you want it, and that's why it shows up so often in hydrating, skin-loving serums and sprays. Shelf life is about three years.

Every batch we bring in is logged right here with its origin and best-by date, and certificates of analysis are available to download where we have them.
